Powerful is an understatement.
We had settled for those cheap $15 fans to provide what we thought was the most air circulation we're ever going to get out of fans. Wrong. This fan cools the room at about as much power as 8 cheap fans, so it's well worth the cost. Its sturdy and metallic design makes it less susceptible to damage and dust accumulation. And yes, the blades are metallic as well.

This fan moves a lot of air
This fan works and looks great! In the high setting it is a little loud, but that is to be expected. I do wish it was taller in height.
A Fantastic Solid Fan!
I purchased this fan in brushed nickel about a year ago, and I can now safely say this is the best fan I have ever purchased. It is very durable with all-metal construction. It is very quiet for a fan that pushes this much air. It's not silent, but is much quieter than the other tower and plastic bladed pedestal fans I have tried over the years.
I run this fan every night in my bedroom for both air circulation and for background "white noise" to help me get to and stay asleep in a very full house of 3 teenagers, a 7-year old, a great dane and two cats! Being so quiet, it doesn't always block all the noise I wish it could!
The only complaint I have about it is that the vertical tilt is somewhat limited. I was able to get the right angle to aim the air at me me while in a fairly tall bed at night, but it won't go much higher unless I "prop" the front of the base up with a book or something.
