Avoid Electrolux at all costs
Only buy this product if you plan on purchasing the extended warranty. My cooktop has been inoperative for over a month. It is only 3 years old (and I did not purchase the extended warrant). After $585 in parts and labor, it is still not working. Electrolux's next step was a $650 dollar part (the induction housing assembly). I told them no thanks, because they could not tell me it would fix the problem. Their technical support was horrible. The service tech had me listen in each time he called (because he knew how bad they were). Each time he called he was given different instructions on how to rectify the solution. Each time was a different part (first a control board ($220), then a relay board ($192.65). He was then told to check voltage on two outer pins (turned out fine), which supposedly eliminated a part (the now suspect housing assembly). Then he was told to check the voltage of the two inner pins (no voltage, now indicating the $650 part). Electrolux will not allow...
Do NOT buy any Electrolux Cooktops or Ranges
I must confess that I am an idiot. About 5 years ago, we updated our kitchen and installed an Electrolux Range with an induction hybrid cooktop. Board after board failed, but at least it was covered by warranty. Finally it seemed to work ok so we wrote it off to some bad boards in the initial manufacturing of the product.
Fast forward, we sold the house, moved and needed up update the kitchen in the "new" house. This time we needed only a cooktop, so being the idiot that I am, I bought the product being reviewed because we did like the Electrolux range when it worked.
This time the unit waited to go out of warranty (1 year and 5 months) before the main interface board failed. To fix it would cost $500 for the board plus labor. No thanks, I pulled out the unit and chucked it and this time ordered a GE full induction cooktop from Amazon. I'll report on that unit in the future.
