Works fine for me
I know on Amazon and other sites these Holmes mini tower fans get consistently low ratings. I may have been lucky and received a good unit. I bought mine at Target in Sept. 2011. to help dry my late mother's family Bible that got submerged in the Hurricane Lee flood. I set the fan to oscillate on low speed so the air blew across the wet pages, and ran it for about four weeks pretty much 24/7. I stopped it for an overnight maybe once a week, but it never felt hot or made any undue noise. I was impressed with the quiet operation on low. Our TV is in the next room with an open door in between, and you couldn't hear it at all.
After getting the Bible dry, I put the fan away till this spring, when it began to get warm. I usually can't stand having a fan running while I'm trying to sleep, but I tried this one and so far, with it running on low and not oscillating, it's plenty quiet. I haven't been bothered with the clicking or vibration noises many other reviews mention...
